Compliance Officer

Job Type: This is a full-time contract position. The successful applicant will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week. Some evening/weekend work may be required.

The GPC is a federal political party with two great MPs and lots of supporters. In 2020 we elected a new leader.

We are carving out a niche in Canadian politics with a unique message and lots of hard work.

Strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as well as a demeanor that is both professional and personable.

Excellent organizational and administrative skills required. Bilingual (French/English) preferred.

Job Description

Working under the direction of a supervising Director, this role is focused on ensuring that our members, electoral district associations, campaigns, and candidates are set up for success. This focuses on ensuring compliance with GPC internal processes as well as Elections Canada rules and guidelines for the Party and the EDAs. The role focuses heavily on the requirements of candidate applications, vetting, nominations, campaign registration, and post campaign reporting during an anticipated federal election in 2021.


  • Ensures Party and EDA activities are compliant with Elections Canada rules, researching and providing information as needed
  • Liaison between Elections Canada and GPC
  • Develop a thorough familiarity with the Canada Elections Act, researching the grey areas, acquiring ruling/clarifications in writing from Elections Canada where the act is unclear.
  • Preparing documentation, newsletters and emails for EDAs to assist them in maintaining successful compliance.
  • Researching and preparing rules and procedures for GPC to assist in ensuring compliance at all levels of the Party.


  • Previous experience in a political organizing, customer service or an administrative role
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English and French
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with constantly evolving strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills.


  • Relevant post secondary degree or equivalent training, education and experience
  • Knowledge of project management and CRM software
  • Experience working on political campaigns or mobilizing
  • Familiarity with the Green Party of Canada’s values and platform
