Keila Stark (she/her) is a Young Green and PhD student at the University of British Columbia living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. Her research aims to understand how climate change drives biodiversity change in coastal ecosystems from the British Columbia coast to nearshore areas around Baffin Island, Nunavut. She has also published policy research with recommendations ranging from implementing the Sustainable Development Goals across Canadian society to incorporating social equity into the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Blue Economy strategy. She regularly attends the United Nations Climate Change conferences (COP) as an observer to push policymakers to commit to justice-centred and evidence-based climate action. Within the GPC, Keila has served as the BC Representative (appointed) on the Young Greens of Canada Council and on the Vancouver Quadra Electoral District Association Executive.
