(Lévis) May 18, 2015 - André Bélisle, former President of l’Association Québécoise de Lutte contre la Pollution Atmosphérique (AQLPA), announced his intention to seek the Green Party’s nomination for the riding of Lévis-Bellechasse-Etchemin. Mr. Bélisle announced he will vigorously defend the interests of the residents of his riding during the upcoming election. Mr. Bélisle also announced that he intends to emphasize environmental security and citizen empowerment during his campaign.
“I spent years with the AQLPA fighting against acid rain, air pollution, and climate change with thousands of citizens. I want to go to Ottawa to fight for the environmental safety of Quebeckers. There are so many people I’ve met who have asked that politicians take better care of their living environment. The other parties in Ottawa have not followed through on protecting our communities, nor have they proposed a clear approach to reducing our dependence on hydrocarbons,” said André Bélisle.
“Andre Belisle's record for community engagement and environmental protection speaks for itself,” added Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich – Gulf Islands). “He has been an environmental hero for decades, and now he can take that fight to Parliament!”
“For 30 years, André Bélisle has battled on all fronts. He has defended citizens with perseverance, fought for the cleaning up of the environment, and proposed structuring policies and projects for the future of Quebec. Given federal decisions that now affect us more than ever, it is indispensable that Quebecers send to Ottawa people of action and conviction like André, champions of the environment and of social causes. I am proud to have André on my team,” stated Daniel Green, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada and candidate (Ville-Marie–Le Sud-Ouest–Île-des-Sœurs)
“The exodus from rural communities, the future of our seniors youth, the development of forestry and agriculture, shipbuilding, green energy, transportation, and public transportation will be the constant objects of all my efforts,” concluded Mr. Bélisle.
