(OTTAWA) –Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada brought substance to last night’s French-language leaders’ debate. Four Quebec Green party candidates offered their observations on the debate:
“Elizabeth May demonstrated why the Green Party’s Platform is the best for Canadians,” said Daniel Green, Green Party candidate (Ville-Marie—Le Sud-Ouest—Île-des-Soeurs). “The platform addresses key issues like climate change and the Green’s plan to defend our coasts from risky pipelines and oil tankers.”
“Ms. May demonstrated in the French language debate that the economy is a top priority for the Green Party,” continued André Bélisle, well known environmentalist and Green Party candidate for Bellechasse—Les Etchemins—Lévis. “Green MPs will work to create a National Sustainable Jobs Plan that includes a $6.4 billion annual investment in infrastructure, and a plan to unleash an army of carpenters, electricians, and contractors to improve energy efficiency and lower energy bills.”
“As Elizabeth highlighted in the debate, we must invest in Canada’s young people,” said JiCi Lauzon, media personality and Green Party candidate for Pierre-Boucher—Les Patriotes—Verchères. “The Green Party’s plan to abolish tuition fees by 2020 will help students and their families.”
“This debate illustrated Ms. May’s understanding of the issues that are most important to Canadians,” said José Núñez Melo,Green Party candidate for Vimy. “When Green MPs are elected this fall we will work collaboratively with other parties to restore good government, build strong communities, work towards a sustainable economy, and implement bold climate action.”
