By-election result confirms Green momentum, says Elizabeth May

(OTTAWA) -- Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) says that big gains made by the Green Party of Manitoba in the St. Boniface by-election confirms the growing Green momentum that is sweeping across Canada.

Ms. May congratulated Françoise Therrien Vrignon on an excellent campaign that earned her the highest percentage of votes as a Green Party of Manitoba candidate in St. Boniface.

“Last weekend I had the privilege of canvassing with Françoise. Her knowledge of the issues and her capacity to connect with people was most impressive,” said Ms. May. “In Françoise the Green Party of Manitoba and its Leader James Beddome have a great team player and someone on whom they can build a future as they prepare for the next provincial election in October of 2020.

“Françoise and her team made important gains for the Greens and I expect to see more in the upcoming provincial elections in Quebec, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. The Green Party is gathering momentum nationwide. Canadians want an alternative to the politics of the status quo.”
