OTTAWA – The Green Party of Canada has accepted the nomination of Dylan Perceval-Maxwell as a contestant for the party’s leadership.
The new leader will be chosen at a national convention to be held in Charlottetown P.E.I. in October, replacing Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) who stepped down in November after 13 years in the position
In the early 90s, Dylan studied climate variability at McGill University in Montreal, launched three organic food co-ops, his first “eco-store” selling organic cotton and hemp clothing, and became well known for running his car on used vegetable oil.
Dylan initiated several environmental projects including an early pilot project using a biodiesel/diesel blend to reduce C02 emissions and improve air quality. In Asia, Dylan started a distribution program to provide poor families with fuel-efficient, carbon-negative cookstoves that reduce indoor smoke and produce biochar which improves soil quality and sequesters CO2. Dylan also launched “CarbonFace”, a carbon offsetting platform, to encourage carbon sequestration.
Dylan is involved in a variety of programs including: "Les Enfants de la Terre", an environmental education program connecting children with nature.
A six-time Federal Green Candidate, he came 3rd in the 2000 general election and stars in the National Film Board distributed film “Democracy 4 Dummies”.
