Green Party of Canada marks Earth Day with local events, coast to coast to coast!

OTTAWA -  2023 is the 53rd Anniversary of Earth Day. The Green Party of Canada is celebrating with over 20 events across the country.

“Back on April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was relatively grassroots and self-organizing. We are returning to those roots by hosting Teach-ins for many of our events,” says Green Party  Leader, Elizabeth May.

“We are calling for far more radical actions from all orders of government as well as local resilience and adaptation to save lives and property from the events we can no longer avoid du to the climate crisis. The Teach-ins will help us learn more about the Climate issues we face, and what we can do about it.”

Ms. May will be the guest speaker for the Green Party of Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting early in the day via ZOOM from Edmonton. In the afternoon May will tour a deep energy retrofit home in Edmonton, where industry experts will be on hand to talk about the process of retrofitting homes.

Kitchener Centre MP, Mike Morrice, will be celebrating Earth Day at a park clean-ups alongside other volunteers from Waterloo Region, joining for Earth Day programming at the Kitchener Market and at workshops.

Deputy Leader Jonathan Pedneault will be in Ukraine celebrating Earth Day via ZOOM as the KeyNote Speaker for an online GreenPAC event.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in participating in Earth Day events to check out our epic schedule online at www.greenparty.ca. We are very excited about our coast to coast to coast line up,” says M. Pedneault.
