(OTTAWA) - Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green of Canada and MP (Saanich – Gulf Islands), joined Claire Martin yesterday to officially launch her electoral campaign in North Vancouver.
“Once again the people from North Vancouver outdid themselves,” remarked Claire Martin. “I was blown over by the response at the launch and the offers of support. I am honoured to represent such a wonderful community. Here's to October!"
Elizabeth May added: “This diverse community has come together to rally behind Claire Martin because they’re ready for representation that puts people before politics. From her work with Environment Canada to her award-winning national broadcasting, to her senior management experience, Claire Martin is a natural leader. Yet, it’s her enthusiasm and vision for the community of North Vancouver that makes her an ideal MP.”
More than 200 people attended the event at The View on Lonsdale, raising over $17,000 for the campaign in a 20 minute pledge auction.
Elizabeth May also emphasized her commitment to not ‘whip’ votes, making Claire Martin and other Green Party candidates uniquely empowered to stand up for their constituents without political interference.
