(OTTAWA) – Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party (Saanich –Gulf Islands), testifies today as an intervenor at the National Energy Board (NEB) hearings on the proposed Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline expansion in Burnaby, B.C.
Media is not permitted inside the hearings, however the NEB is live-streaming video of all proceedings. A schedule of hearings is available here.
Following her testimony, Ms. May will be available for media interviews and will be joined by Dr. Lynne Quarmby, Green Party Science Policy Critic. Dr. Quarmby was the target of a SLAPP (strategic litigation against public participation) suit from Kinder Morgan in 2014 for her role in protest against the pipeline expansion project. She was subsequently arrested atop Burnaby Mountain and continues to be a public figure in the legal battle with the company.
