(OTTAWA) - The Green Party of Canada recognizes the significance of World Day of Social Justice:
“Social justice is about removing barriers that people may face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or income,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich-Gulf Islands).
“It is crucial we address the widening income gap and social disparities in Canada. The National Council of Welfare estimates that more than 15 percent – or 4.9 million Canadians – are living in poverty. By introducing a Guaranteed Livable Income, we can work towards eliminating poverty, lowering health care costs, and reducing crime.
“I encourage all Canadians to consider the role of social justice in their communities and in society as a whole, and to work towards creating equal opportunities for all,” stated May.
