Hello World! (smoking, freezing, littering and that new car smell...)

Darin Otte

I commute from Whitby to Toronto daily. In the GoTrain parking lot, in the evening, I often see people in the smoking outside of their cars (while their cars sit idling).

I suppose they are willing to face the -30 C temperatures, waste fuel, litter the parking lots with their cigarette butts, and pay an exorbitant price to kill themselves slowly AS LONG AS they don’t compromise that “new car smell” inside their BMW.

I have no idea how to remedy this situation; I simply thought I’d share the perversity of what I have observed.
