La Prairie

Barbara was born in Quebec City, where she spent most of her youth and early adult life. Since high school, she has been interested in everything related to science. This passion led her to obtain a bachelor’s degree in biology as well as a teaching certificate for the college and high school levels from Laval University. She then completed a minor in history at the University of Montreal.

Always linked to science and the earth, Barbara is passionate about horticulture and studied for three years in horticultural production and environmental technology. She has been working in this field for over 20 years with private companies and at the municipal level.

Barbara’s interest in politics began when she helped to create a municipal political party. She and her team ran for mayor in the city of La Prairie in the 2017 municipal election and managed to secure over 30 per cent of the vote. Among other things, her party promises to help save the beautiful ecosystem on the La Prairie golf course from destruction by turning it into a protected provincial park. This diverse ecosystem consists of century-old trees and countless species of animals, insects, birds and fish. This effort is the backbone of her party's conservation initiatives, as well as a plan to transform a former brick factory into a park with a lake for water-based recreation, an archaeological fossil research site and a science and health centre.

Barbara is excited to share her passion for environmental sustainability to address climate change on a national scale and to help work with the entire population of the La Prairie riding.
