Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands issued the following statement on Eid al-Adha:
“Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, is a holy day for Muslims in Canada and around the world. Today marks the first day of the three day observance commemorating the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God.”
“Eid is an opportunity for Muslims to pray, share a meal, exchange gifts and serve those in need. It is a reminder of the sacred bond that unites our families, friends and communities.”
“On behalf of the Green Party, I extend my best wishes to Muslims in Canada as they celebrate over these next three days. Eid Mubarak.”
