Green Party of Canada statement on International Volunteer Day

(OTTAWA) — The Green Party of Canada released the following statement in celebration of International Volunteer Day:

“At the centre of any political party and any social movement are dedicated volunteers who give their time for the betterment of society. For the Green Party, volunteers are our members, our leadership, and our lifeblood. Without them, our grassroots party would never have come into being and could never sustain itself,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands).

“But our gratitude for volunteers extends far beyond our party. Volunteers take it upon themselves to build our local communities, and through their selfless acts, inspire others to work together towards a common goal. Thank you to everyone who has ever volunteered their precious time towards making their community, and the world itself, a healthier, fairer and more sustainable place to inhabit,” concluded Ms. May.
