HALIFAX – The Green Party of Canada joins Canadians in extending deepest sympathy and condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Canadian Navy crew members lost in the CH-148 Cyclone helicopter crash yesterday.
“I wish to express my deep condolences to the family and loved ones of those service members lost off the coast of Greece yesterday,” said Jenica Atwin, MP for Fredericton and Green caucus critic for national defence. “My heart and my thoughts are with you today and in the days to come.”
Four air force and two navy personnel were on board the helicopter which went missing in the Ionian Sea last night. The crew of the RCAF helicopter and the frigate it operates from, HMCS Fredericton, are based in Nova Scotia.
“It is so hard to hear this tragic news when we are already mourning here in Nova Scotia,” said Green Party Interim Leader Jo-Ann Roberts. “Our hearts will expand to offer love and support to the loved ones of those lost in this crash, as well as all military families who share in the pain of this loss to their community.”
To the families and loved ones of Master Corporal Matthew Cousins, Sub-Lieutenant Abigail Cowbrough, Captain Kevin Hagen, Captain Brenden Ian MacDonald, Captain Maxime Miron-Morin, and Sub-Lieutenant Matthew Pyke we extend our deepest condolences.
