Green Party Statement for Yom Kippur

OTTAWA  – As the holy celebration of Yom Kippur begins this evening at sundown, Jews in Canada and around the world will celebrate Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year. The Green Party sends good wishes to all those celebrating this important occasion.

“This sacred time of fasting and prayer is recognized as an opportunity for reflection on the year passed, and a time to contemplate hopes for the year ahead,” said Green Party Interim Leader Jo-Ann Roberts. “Despite the restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that Jewish families and communities will find unique ways to be able to celebrate the holiday together. On behalf of us all here at the Party, I wish everyone a very special Yom Kippur. Gmar Chatima Tovah.”
