TORONTO – “Today, the Green Party of Canada joins Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Buddhist communities in celebrating Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas.
“Usually, during this celebration, loved ones gather to feast, exchange gifts and sweets, and light up their homes with diyas.
“However, this year’s Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas take place in the middle of a global pandemic, and families and organizations here in Canada will only meet for the Festival of Lights virtually.
“It is my sincere hope that next year we will all come together again in celebration. After all, the lesson of the Festival of Lights centres on light triumphing over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
“To all those here in Canada and around the world celebrating Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, I send my warmest wishes this festive season.”
